DD Porter took on a significant and innovative project for Canon Medical Systems Ltd over a span of 26 weeks. The work involved the transformation of one end of the Canon Medical Arena into a cutting-edge Medical Diagnostics Centre. Constructed by B&E Boys, the fit-out by DD Porter has set a new standard for medical facilities within sports complexes.
The Vision
The project encompassed the creation of a comprehensive Medical Diagnostic Centre aimed at improving the overall accessibility of health within the community. It included five consulting rooms, a minor theatre, and state-of-the-art imaging suites for MRI, CT, and X-ray, provided by Canon Medical and Xograph. The facility was designed to offer a full spectrum of medical services, from consultations to advanced diagnostics.
Complex Installations
A standout feature of this project was the installation of the new MRI, CT, and X-ray suites. These required not only precise handling due to the sensitive and expensive equipment but also careful planning to integrate them seamlessly into the arena’s existing structure. The accompanying control rooms and technical rooms were outfitted with the latest technology to support the operation of this high-end medical equipment.
Patient-Centric Design
Understanding the importance of patient and staff comfort, DD Porter incorporated dedicated changing and toilet facilities for both groups, alongside a cannulation room, and areas for clean and dirty utilities. The design prioritised ease of use and privacy, ensuring a comfortable experience for all users.
Accessibility and Comfort
The inclusion of a passenger and trolley lift addressed accessibility concerns, ensuring that the facility is welcoming to all. Reception and waiting areas were designed to be welcoming spaces, reducing the stress often associated with medical visits. The layout and flow of the space were carefully considered to create a smooth and efficient experience for patients and staff alike.

The completion of the Medical Diagnostic Centre at the Canon Medical Arena represents a landmark achievement for DD Porter.
