Charity

At DD Porter we work hard to create and maintain a successful business. Our success gives us the freedom to support many local charities. We view this as a way to invest in the people and places that make up our everyday lives.

DD Porter have donated over £ 420,000 between 2019 and 2024.

Our main charity involvement is with Overgate Hospice.
DD Porter are proud to be a sponsor of one of the new bedrooms as part of a £ 12m new build project that will form the heart of the hospice. Our Chairman, Richard Porter has been part of the team in planning and project management of the design and procurement process.

The Hub

As a charitable donation, we recently completed the construction of a ‘Hub’ at no cost to the hospice.

This area provides a fantastic modern, peaceful building comprising of a meeting room and breakout areas away from the main hospice building.

LED’s For Preston Royal Children’s Ward

One of our NHS clients is Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. We recently donated LED’s Relax and View lighting to seven of their children’s wards to help to provide a relaxing environment for the patients.

Other Charity Work

By way of supporting small charities, we donate directly to Community Foundation for Calderdale. This is a not-for-profit organisation devoted to supporting the hundreds of charities and voluntary groups across the borough. Their goal is to address inequalities and work alongside voluntary organisations and charities to create opportunities and help those most in need.

Further charities that we donate to are;

  • Gambian School Trust, to provide books and education to Gambian children and their families.
  • Friends of the Stray – an animal welfare charity based near to Halifax
  • Homeless Street Angels – This charity works in Halifax Town Centre and Sowerby Bridge Friday and Saturday evenings to meet the needs of those who have become vulnerable on a night out.

Our staff undertake various charity events with which we encourage and support.

Our Buyer and Transport Manager, Richard Potts has recently completed treks to Machu Picchu and Kilimanjaro and collected thousands of pounds for Overgate Hospice along the way.
